Why the Hollins Fund is important
When you give to the Hollins Fund, you strengthen and help transform the lives of students today. The Hollins Fund provides a significant percentage of Hollins’ operating budget-eleven percent-and is the critical difference in our ability to fulfill our educational mission by providing unrestricted dollars that directly support the student experience.

One of the things Hollins does best is instill in our students the belief that they can do anything. Around the globe, Hollins graduates are making the world a better place. There are many ways your gift to the Hollins Fund supports our current operating budget to provide students the foundation to grow, transform, and lead lives of consequence:
Strength in numbers.
Gifts of any amount make an impact on students’ lives. Alumnae participation by giving counts in college rankings. Imagine if 100 alumnae each gave a $25 gift to the Hollins Fund – that would not only boost our participation for rankings, but provide $2,500 in funds for today’s students and professors.
Your gift also represents a vote of confidence in Hollins. Last fall Hollins received a $75M gift from an anonymous alumna, the largest gift in Hollins’ history and the largest gift ever made to a women’s college. The gift, restricted to the endowment and to be used for scholarships, will have a profound impact on the campus once fully paid over three years; it also crafts a runway for us to actively and aggressively plan for an dlive into the future. The dolor has made it clear that her generosity is intended to be a call to action for all alumnae/i and friends to do everything they can, in their own way, to help ensure a strong future for Hollins.

The 1842 Society, established in 1968, recognizes those individuals who give $1,842 or more annually to Hollins. Every year 1842 Society members are the backbone of the Hollins Fund, providing critical support for the operating budget. Your financial leadership supports our mission of offering the highest quality undergraduate and graduate programs and an ongoing commitment to the liberal arts.
