Hollins University is located in Roanoke, which features a vibrant downtown, lively arts and culture, and an array of festivals and other special events throughout the year. Outdoor recreation is also a hallmark of the area with ample opportunities for hiking, biking, and kayaking.

Our athletes not only work hard, but play hard too. We put our spirit into nine sports programs with Division III athletics, plus an outstanding riding program.

Most of our students live on campus, developing the rich Hollins tradition of community. We offer a variety of living options, and you can even find specialty housing if you have particular academic or personal interests.

If you enjoy the outdoors, with some adventure thrown in, then the Hollins Outdoor Program — or HOP — is for you. HOP combines adventure, education, self-awareness, and leadership all into one fun, exciting program.

The Rock has been our beloved “billboard” for over 30 years. Countless times, students paint it with slogans, announcements, and that ever-present Hollins spirit.

We’re proud of our history as one of the nation’s first institutions for women.

Our community values are the core principles that define and embody our campus culture. Developed by Hollins students, our five values guide  expectations campuswide and the interactions we have with one another.

In its 56,000 square feet, Wyndham Robertson Library houses books, periodicals, and more than 1,400 volumes of children’s literature from the Francelia Butler Collection.

Opened in 2004 and located on the first floor of the Richard Wetherill Visual Arts Center, the Eleanor D. Wilson Museum features the work of renowned, emerging, and regional artists. The museum presents exhibitions in a wide variety of media and genres, including selected exhibitions from the permanent collection. Through this programming, the museum provides a forum for art through viewing, dialogue, and an understanding of the creative process.
