At Hollins, students in the business degree program learn to think creatively and critically. Through a combination of classroom learning and real-world experience, they develop the skills to tackle today’s business challenges with confidence and clarity.

The business major seeks to educate students, within the context of liberal arts, in the analytical skills necessary for the understanding of the global economy, the impact of economic policies on individuals and enterprises, and the interactions between economics, politics, societies, and the private sector.

Finance

The Finance concentration equips students with a strong foundation in investments, cost accounting, and specialized knowledge in international trade, public finance, or money and banking to prepare for strategic financial decision-making in a global business environment.

General Business

The General Business concentration allows students to tailor their studies by selecting three courses, including at least one upper-level course, from topics such as investments, organizational behavior, international business, economics, and managerial decision-making to build a broad foundation in business principles.

Marketing

The Marketing concentration is a foundation in core marketing principles, managerial economics, and practical skills in accounting, social media, social marketing, or applied computing to prepare them for data-driven and strategic business decision-making.

Internships are required and guaranteed for business majors.

Minors

Business Minor

A business minor focuses 24 credits on business basics and small-scale economics. The minor also requires one internship.

International Business Minor

Centering on global economics, the minor omits foreign language requirements and requires one internship.
