In January 2022, Sajila Kanwal ’22 will begin an internship with Ipas, a nonprofit organization that promotes initiatives around the world to increase women’s ability to exercise their sexual and reproductive rights. She’s applying to graduate school public health programs and is “definitely looking forward to seeing what the future brings for me in terms of opportunities and options. I’m open to everything that interests me and see the best in each possibility.”

We’re also spotlighting the powerful impact that the new HOPE scholarship program will have on the ambitious young women in the Roanoke Valley who are striving to better themselves through their education.
Starting this fall, Hollins is awarding Virginia Community College System (VCCS) graduates who transfer to the institution full credit for completion of the university’s general education requirements.

Students in Hollins’ first-year seminar “Sustainability and Social Innovation” recently received inspiration and a blueprint on how to start finding their purpose as social entrepreneurs through “Head, Heart, Hustle,” an interactive workshop presented by the Algernon Sydney Sullivan Foundation.
